What to do if your payment is pending or was rejected?

Most of the time payments are working within seconds, but if your payment is pending on lootie.com, it is because the online payment service holds funds in certain cases. And there are a number of reasons for why funds could be placed on hold or get rejected.

Why is my top up still pending or was rejected?

Most common reasons are that you are new to a certain buyer pattern and it’s perceived as suspicious. This can happen if you are the first time buying a top up on a platform like lootie.com and depending on the selected payment method, the bank or processor decides to ‘look into’ this, to check if there is no fraud or any irregularities behind this transaction. Once this works out, it usually will not happen again, since the system will remember this as a ‘legit transaction’.

Another common reason is that you are starting to top up your wallet on lootie.com repeatedly on a regular basis and the payment service detects this as a suspicious transaction pattern – so again, they will review the transaction.

Depending on the selected payment method and parties involved, the process of reviewing and deciding might take a few seconds, minutes, hours, up to several days in case that a manual review occurs. The worst case scenario of course is happening extremely rarely, but it does happen.

What all these scenarios have in common, is that the review of a transaction is happening at the payment service providers, not at lootie.com.

In most cases it is depending on where you are located and which payment method you are selecting. So we are actually not having any direct influence on this, we are also depending on the involved parties here.

It’s like in a brick and mortar shop

For the better understanding – the whole situation is not different from when you are in your local brick and mortar store, wanting to buy some new sneakers and then your credit card is declined, the payment is rejected or it simply doesn’t go through for any reason.

The shop clerk or owner can assist you to solve the situation, but it is up to the payment processor to solve and not to the shop.

Talking about solutions:

What to do if your payment was declined?

This is most probably the easiest thing to solve. Since now we understand that it is not lootie.com actually rejecting your payment, the easiest solution is to simply select another payment method and pay again. Since the payment was declined, no funds will be booked or missing in this scenario.

What to do if your top up is pending?

The first thing to do – be patient – give it a moment.

Don’t panic, most probably it does NOT mean that you had been scammed or your money was stolen.

Since the payment process involves a number of parties, it sometimes happens that things literally get stuck for a while. Unfortunately there is no fixed rule what “a while” means, so our recommendation is to check back after few minutes if your wallet was topped up. Very often the issue solves up from itself after some seconds or minutes.

If not, you want to make sure that the amount is really pending. To do so, you check on the account you have used if the amount was booked, or is listed as pending or maybe was blocked. If that is the case, you know at least for sure that the payment is pending and in process.

…and if it is still pending…hours, days?

Well, this is very unlikely and extremely rare to happen – but let’s be honest here, these things can happen.

As explained earlier this is happening on the side of the payment services and Lootie.com does not have much of an influence here – it is not on lootie.com to decide to set any payment on pending – it’s happening within the payment process and your payment processor and / or bank can decide to set your payment on pending.

So you can of course do the most obvious next step and contact the lootie.com support team. We are there to help and support you as good as we can and we will enter the process by contacting the related payment service provider accordingly and on your behalf – but there is a way to increase chances to speed up things :

Speed up the process – with a simple step

To speed up the process, you might want to contact the support team of the payment service provider in question directly and on your own. Like in case if your credit card is rejected or has issues, you contact your credit card provider or bank – and do not expect the shop owner to fix it, right? 🙂

To do so, you need to know or check which payment method you selected, from which of your accounts you made the payment and contact their support team accordingly, describing the issue and providing details available (e.g. amount, payment date, transaction number if applicable). So if for instance you made your payment through G2A PAY you can directly contact their support, if you paid with PayPal – you can contact their support directly.

Making seamless payments reality

Since each payment method has a different approach on evaluating transactions, best practice is to try out and see which payment method works best for you

Starting with using one of the most common payment methods from your country and avoiding trying exotic ones. One of the most solid methods is to use G2A PAY from the lootie.com checkout, since this payment gateway contains plenty local payment methods inside and is the most popular solution for Mystery Box and Gaming related websites and transactions.
